Coed Soccer Grades 3-8
September/October
B-team games begin at 4:30 PM, A-team games to follow

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! Here are the details to this year’s soccer program.

  • September 8 — first game with St. Johns traveling to Lake City–B team plays first.
  • Practices will begin on Tuesday, August 29th – practice times are 3:00 – 5:00.
  • Program is for soccer players in grades 3-8.
  • Parents are responsible for transportation after practices and games.
  • Additional practice opportunities will take place during “noon breaks and PE times” for those students who want to learn the game.
  • Equipment needed: soccer or turf shoes are highly recommended for the player’s safety and ability to play. Long socks / shin guards (these are a must). Mouth guards are optional
  • A physical is not required, but might be a good idea if it has been a number of years since the last physical.
  • NOTE – Practices and games have been scheduled for every day, except the Wednesdays we have “early outs”(with the exception of September 6th). In the case of bad weather, parents will be notified by email and possibly by phone so you know whether the students are going home on the bus or if you have to pick them up.
  • NOTE – Permission for participation must be received by email or signed form by Tuesday, August 29th. If there are any health concerns, please indicate them on the permission slip or notify me in person.

A NOTE ABOUT YOUNGER PLAYERS: As a coach and athletic director, I am in favor of giving younger athletes exposure to sports at a young age. It allows them to learn the rules and some of the basis skills before they are put into game situations. It also allows them to develop attitudes and sportsmanship from the examples set by the older players. At the same time, the older players learn responsibility and patience as they help the coach(es) work with the younger players. BUT, parents should never feel their young child(ren) HAVE to participate in a sport. As a coach I am merely making the opportunity available. It is a family (parent) decision.
Kevin Meyer, Athletic Director
